TX-KEA Required Measures for ECDS
For the 2018-19 school year, school districts and charter schools using the Texas Kindergarten Entry Assessment on CLI Engage will report composite scores for some domains to the Early Childhood Data System (ECDS), part of the Texas Student Data System (TSDS). Download and review the information in the document below that includes the Texas Kindergarten Entry Assessment measures that will be required for ECDS exports from CLI Engage for the 2018-19 school year, including those domains that will be a composite score of multiple measures.
ECDS Reporting Requirements
If your school district or charter school will be reporting information to ECDS for the 2018-19 school year, please review the following information when selecting the Texas Kindergarten Entry Assessment measures that will be assessed in kindergarten classrooms:
- Texas Education Code (TEC) §28.006 requires school districts and charter schools to administer an assessment instrument that measures emergent literacy-reading skills. School districts and charter schools using TX-KEA to fulfill this requirement must administer all three measures that comprise the composite score for Emergent Literacy: Reading (highlighted in the table below in grey).
- School districts and charter schools are recommended to assess in all five domains and report this information to ECDS. For TX-KEA, the required measures for ECDS reports for all five domains are in the table on the following page. If your school district or charter school administers these measures using TX-KEA, the scores would be required submissions to ECDS.
- For 2018-19, only BOY measures (known as Wave 1 in CLI Engage) will be reported.
- For complete reporting to ECDS, school districts and charter schools must assess the measures listed by domain in the table below. There will not be an option to export an XML file of only a raw score for a measure that is included in a composite.
